I like to be in the background, out of focus. I like to observe rather than speak my mind. That was my inspiration for this photo. I also don't like harsh colors, I prefer soft tones. For this photo I lowered the saturation of everything except the flower.

I like the "reverse DOF" effect you did where you're out of focus while the flower is clear. I was thinking of trying something similar for one of my self-portraits, except I'd take it a step further and make myself so blurred in the background that all you see is blobs of color and can't make out my face (which, of course, is the whole idea because I don't like being at the business end of cameras at all--as my "faceless" self-portraits clearly attest).
