Portrait #4

One thing about me is that I don't like to be the focus or center of attention. When people talk about me sometimes I turn bright red and my face gets flushed... or my heart will start racing... or I start questioning things- how do I look? what are they staring at? what did I do? what did I say?...
I like to be in the background, out of focus. I like to observe rather than speak my mind. That was my inspiration for this photo. I also don't like harsh colors, I prefer soft tones. For this photo I lowered the saturation of everything except the flower.

  1. high five for control of DOF, and for not using selective coloring.

    Neat idea. nice job.

  2. I like the "reverse DOF" effect you did where you're out of focus while the flower is clear. I was thinking of trying something similar for one of my self-portraits, except I'd take it a step further and make myself so blurred in the background that all you see is blobs of color and can't make out my face (which, of course, is the whole idea because I don't like being at the business end of cameras at all--as my "faceless" self-portraits clearly attest).
